THERE WILL ALWAYS BE RELIGIOUS CRITICS

“And the scribes and the Pharisees began to reason, saying, ‘Who is this who speaks blasphemies? Who can forgive sins but God alone?”

(Luke 5:21 )

Whenever Jesus moved in power, someone had something to say. Miracles did not silence critics—in fact, they often stirred them up. In this story, while a paralyzed man was receiving healing and forgiveness, the religious leaders were busy debating theology.

This moment teaches us something profound: not everyone who is present is prepared to receive. Some are watching to criticize, not to celebrate. They are more concerned with doctrine than deliverance, with appearances than power. But notice this: Jesus was not moved by their resistance. He was moved by faith. Faith draws power. Criticism draws nothing.

When you step out in faith for healing, breakthrough, or obedience to God’s word, don’t be surprised if critics arise. They might question your boldness, your testimony, or even your theology. But like Jesus, you must not get distracted. Miracles are not for spectators or skeptics—they are for believers.

Also, don’t let religious tradition block a supernatural move in your life. The Pharisees had the Scriptures but missed the living Word standing in front of them. They had the law, but not the love. Don’t let a critical spirit rob you of God’s present power. And here’s a deeper lesson: your healing may offend someone’s theology. But obey God anyway. Receive anyway. Rejoice anyway.

Personal Reflection Questions:

  • Am I more focused on pleasing people or obeying God?
  • Have I allowed the fear of judgment or criticism to hinder my testimony or pursuit of healing?
  • Do I approach God’s presence with expectation, or with evaluation?

Action Step:

If you’ve ever held back your testimony or pursuit of healing because of fear of judgment, today is the day to let it go. Share your testimony. Pray out loud. Praise boldly. Choose faith over fear and freedom over opinions.

A PRAYER FOR TODAY

Lord, give me boldness to pursue You without fear of criticism. I receive help to tune out the voices of doubt and distraction. I refuse to be like the Pharisees—present but not receptive. My eyes are opened to Your power and my heart to receive. Let me always be a vessel of faith, not a voice of resistance. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
